Second Album Out Soon!

Konversations Kill: Rock band · Vancouver, B.C.

Acoustic guitars.
Arena-sized choruses.
And soon,
everything louder.

Scott Burton and Stephen Selski make rock that sits between heavy and pop: two flat-tops up front, 80s and 90s alternative in its bones. The self-titled debut is out now everywhere. Their second album, Are we Insane, to be released very soon.

About the band

Two old friends.
Two flat-tops.
Fifty-odd songs.

Konversations Kill is Scott Burton and Stephen Selski, veteran Canadian musicians and old friends who’ve played together in different projects over the years. They got back together as an acoustic duo in Vancouver, sat down with a pair of flat-top guitars, and the songs came fast: more than fifty of them.

Friends and family heard the demos and told them to make a record, so they did, with producer Jeff Dawson (Bio — Jeff Dawson Productions). Recorded and mixed at the Den Studios, Vancouver, BC and mastered by Ryan Dahle (Age of Electric, Limblifter, ryandahle.com) at his Mayne Island studios, their self-titled debut landed on July 31, 2024: nine songs, each released first as its own single.

The sound sits between heavy and pop. Acoustic guitars up front, big harmonies, and synths, strings and a rolling rhythm section underneath. The Static Dive heard Violent Femmes and Talking Heads in it; Rock Era Magazine called the vocals “anthemic and arena-worthy.”

In 2026, the band has taken the momentum of the first album and used it to push the sound forward, expanding from the intimacy of the original acoustic duo into something bigger, louder and more unapologetically rock. The soon-to-be-released second album sees Konversations Kill embracing the full-band experience, turning up the volume and bringing a heavier, more dynamic sonic punch to the songs. What started with two friends, acoustic guitars and a flood of songs has now evolved into a full-blown rock sound.

Their second album, Are we Insane, to be released very soon.
